How to get a child to sleep

It’s truly amazing how such a basic necessity of life can create such torment for parents. Whether your child is 3 mths old and keeping you up all night or 13 yrs old, the consequences for the child (and the rest of the family) are painful.

After years of struggling with our own girls, the solution that was shared with me was so simple, I’m still amazed it’s not essential teaching for all parents before the first child arrives. I share the process in my ebook “How to get your child to sleep“.

How much sleep does a child need?

Although this does vary considerably from child to child, the following guide will help you to determine how “normal” your child’s sleep patterns are…

Up to 8 weeks         4 to 6 sleeps totaling 14 to 18 hours

2 to 4 months         3 or 4 sleeps totaling 14 to 16 hours

4 to 12 months       2 or 3 sleeps totaling 12 to 14 hours

1 to 4 yrs                   1 sleep of 12/13 hours

Sleep is an essential ingredient in the development of your child and getting them into a regular sleep pattern is not as difficult as you might think.

What doesn’t work…

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is…. “Do you recommend controlled crying”?

“Absolutely not” is my reply.

It was certainly one of “those methods” that was suggested to me many years ago and…. I tried it with our eldest daughter. It didn’t work and only succeeded in making me cry.

The teachings in “How to get your child to sleep” will cause absolutely no stress to you or your child…. the greatest challenge you will face is believing you can overcome your child’s sleep issues so easily (but that’s why I can offer the money-back guarantee).
